OUR STORY

Lead the Generation was founded in 2016 by Eran & Julie Holt. After 20+ years of serving in multiple student ministry roles ,they sensed there was a new mission that God had placed on their life to strategically respond to the growing crisis, not just in youth ministry, but in Next Gen (children, youth & young adults) ministry as a whole.

Lead the Generation was founded in 2016 by Eran & Julie Holt. After 20+ years of serving in multiple student ministry roles, they sensed there was a new mission that God had placed on their life to strategically respond to the growing crisis, not just in youth ministry, but in Next Gen (children, youth & young adults) ministry as a whole.

Nothing was

working…

…the ultimate test of Next Gen ministry, “Is a student still living for Jesus 5 years after high school graduation?” showed that the last several decades of ministry models were not succeeding. Over 50% of churches didn’t have a weekly youth ministry and most kids ministries functioned more as child care than children’s ministry.

"only 4% had a Christian worldview…"

"only 4% had a

Christian worldview…"

The compounding issue to all of this was that most churches' Next Gen Ministries had moved completely away from a discipleship model and therefore weren’t creating followers of Christ that could stand firm in their faith. All of this, compounded with a rapidly changing culture, resulted in a generation (Gen Z) of which only 4% had a Christian worldview. Lead The Generation was created to step into the gap and confront these issues and create new models and strategies that help churches create Next Gen ministries that empower a generation to change their world.

We're here for you!

Lead The Generation initially began as just a conference, but has expanded into so much more. Watch this video for a little bit of the backstory on how Lead The Generation has developed over the years.

Next Gen Ministry is our calling

Kids Ministry

As society has changed and evolved a common thread has occurred. Kids are facing life altering issues far earlier than they ever have before. The topics and issues that a student has typically faced in middle school are now being faced in 4th & 5th grade. In certain cases youth ministry is becoming damage control, which ultimately places a much higher priority on reaching students in their elementary years and giving them a firm foundation in their faith.

Youth Ministry

Most students make their most formative decisions during ages 12-18. By the time they reach college, they will have already formed most of their world view. Youth ministry should be all about creating disciples of Jesus that can stand firm in their society and change their world.

Speaking

One of the ways we reach students and leaders is by ministering directly to them, face to face. Eran Holt travels, speaking to youth leaders, students and churches to encourage them to live a life fully devoted to the mission God has called them to.
